More Than Flowers... A Story of Faith, Family, and Following a Dream

Welcome to Johnna's Petals & More Flowers and Gifts.

My name is Johnna Smith, founder and owner, and I'm so glad you're here.

For more than 25 years, I worked from my kitchen creating custom silk floral designs, grapevine wreaths, funeral tributes, weddings, homecoming mums, prom flowers, and countless special orders. Every evening I packed everything back into totes and boxes, hoping that one day I would have a flower shop of my own.

That dream became a reality on November 4, 2023.

After years of praying, waiting, and believing, I left my corporate job of 15 years and at age 51 I opened the doors to Johnna's Petals & More. What began in a small 12x24 building has continued to grow into our downtown storefront in Idabel, Oklahoma. Every step of this journey has been a reminder that God's timing is always perfect.

The Story Behind the Dream

For over twenty years, my mom encouraged me to take a leap of faith and open my own flower shop. Fear always convinced me to wait just a little longer.

In July 2023, after losing my mom to liver disease, everything changed.

Her passing reminded me that tomorrow is never promised. She had spent years encouraging me to chase my dream, and I finally realized she was right.

Life is simply too short not to pursue what God places on your heart.

Although she never had the opportunity to walk through the doors of my shop, I feel her presence there every single day. She continues to inspire me, and I know she's smiling down as I continue building the dream she believed in long before I did.

Our Passion

While we create beautiful silk floral designs for every occasion, our heart has always been with sympathy and memorial work.

Helping families honor someone they love is one of the greatest privileges we have. Every casket spray, cemetery arrangement, memorial piece, and tribute is designed with compassion, care, and the understanding that these flowers represent far more than an arrangement—they represent a life, a memory, and a final act of love.

We also proudly offer cemetery floral placements, monument cleaning services with Sivard Monument and Restoration, custom memorial designs, and a dedicated sympathy collection created to help families during life's most difficult moments.

Creativity With Purpose

I've never wanted my work to look like everyone else's.

Every design that leaves our shop is created with originality and purpose because I believe God created each of us uniquely, and our work should reflect that same uniqueness.

Whether I'm designing a wedding, prom flowers, homecoming mums, birthday arrangement, wreath, cemetery tribute, or custom silk arrangement, I take the time to learn about each customer so their order becomes personal and meaningful.

A True Family Business

Johnna's Petals & More is truly a family business.

My husband James helps with deliveries and supports every crazy idea I dream up. My son Trevor helps whenever he's home from college, and my dad is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed & my sounding board who always gives the best advice. My best friend Ladonna who is like a sister to me is always on stand-by and helps us with all my most challenging projects.

And then there's my brother-in-law, Ken who is our delivery driver, errand runner, fixer, helper and pretty much our all-of-the-above guy who is also my first employee. We are so thankful to have him as a part of our family and our team. He along with his oldest son Kenny, my nephew, are the ones bringing monuments back to life with Sivard Monument and Restoration services.

Behind the scenes, I wear just about every hat imaginable—from designing and ordering inventory to marketing, bookkeeping, customer service, website updates, and social media. It's a lot of work, but I wouldn't trade it for anything because I genuinely love what I do.
